Monkey Do Project

I ran across this project a few weeks ago, and I am so glad I did. I believe that we should help people, especially people here in the United States. The Monkey Do Project helps people in Appalachian region. Here's their mission directly from their Monkey Do Project:

The Monkey Do Project works to assist the most distressed areas of the Appalachian region by feeding the entire being: physical, spiritual and emotional.  We are a nonprofit project that will donate the time and items needed to meet those basic physical, emotional and spiritual needs. We strive to be an ongoing “outreach” for the Appalachian community,  and help plant seeds of growth and change within the community—homes, schools, churches and businesses.

Here's a list of their ongoing donation needs, and you can ship them to Monkey Do Project, P.O. Box 78335, Indianapolis, IN 46278 :

  • Toothbrushes
  • Toothpaste
  • Trial size shampoo and conditioner
  • Bandaids
  • Individually-wrapped bar soap
  • Wash clothes
  • Small Brush
  • Roll-on (solid) deodorant
  • Socks (adult and children’s sizes)
  • Hair clips
  • Knit stocking caps (men, women, boys and girls)
  • Knit gloves (the one-size, fits all, stretchy ones from your local discount store works well)
  • Feminine hygiene products (tampons, pads-individually wrapped)
  • Diapers
  • Incontinence products
  • Gallon-size Ziploc bags
  • Pens, pencils, crayons
  • Small notebooks (sized to fit into a gallon-sized Ziploc bag)
  • Small toys for boys and girls (that will fit into a gallon-sized Ziploc bag)
  • Suckers or hard candies
  • Individually-wrapped chewy granola bars

Of course, they can always use monetary donations, too. Please click here to help support them. So during this time of giving, please consider extending your family presents to include the people of the Appalachian region.
