Color Run

So there is this awesome new race/run series sweeping the US called the Color Run. The fun thing is this race isn't about racing, it's all about having fun! The Color Run is a five-kilometer, un-timed race in which thousands of participants are doused from head to toe in different colors at each kilometer. The fun continues at the finish line with a gigantic “Color Festival,” using more colored powder to create happiness and lasting memories, not to mention millions of vivid color combinations. And they only have two rules, 1. Wear white at the starting line and 2. Finish the race plastered in color.

How much more fun can you ask for? So, now you're ready to race, and of course want to know if there is one close to you.... check out here to find out. Want some more info on this great race, their about page has tons!!!

Check out this cool video on the run!!!

I have some great news for you, too..... I can save you $5 off the entry fee. If you are not in the Orlando area, put COLOR5OFF in the promo code. That code will work for any city that is not sold out. If you are local to Orlando, put COLORORLANDO into the promo code. Another option to save $5 is to register as a team of 4 or more, and you can use the other promo code on top of it, so you will save $10 off your entry fee..... Isn't that awesome?!?  How does a “Color Team” work compared with a solo runner? Pretty simple, you register as a (4 minimum/infinity max) unit rather than as an individual.  You get to pick a groovy custom team name, anything from The Roy G Biv All-stars to We Sweat Rainbows.  You then get to run/walk together and “help” each other get really colored up over the 5 color kilometers.  There is no “relay” component and team members can finish together as a unit or separately.

Okay, so now I know you all are going to head out and register, and for those that are running in Orlando, I look forward to seeing you there!!!

Mamavation Monday

Hello all.... I have to say I was not very motivated last week. It seems trying to get back in swing after vacation was harder than I thought, and I was very good with my eating either :( So, needless to say I gained over 5 lbs between vacation and last week.......Good news though! I joined an online virtual boot camp on August 1st and so far, I have stuck to it (I know it's only 4 days, LOL).  Here's my recap for last week -

Monday - 2 hrs walk around Sea World
Tuesday - 30 min walk
Wednesday - 30 min walk, bowling
Thursday - Baseline test for Bootcamp, 30 min walk
Friday - 30 min interval run 1 min hard/ 1 min easy
Saturday - 3.11 mile run
Sunday - 30 mins worth of ab work

Unfortunately, (or maybe it's a good thing) I do not know what my workout will be until the night before, so I can't specify my schedule this week other than it will be 30+ mins of something every day.

My Goals this week:
- Complete my online boot camp work every day
- drink 100 oz water daily
- PORTION CONTROL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How about you? How do you get back on track after your vacation?

Oh, one last thing..... You have to join on us Mamavation TV tonight at 10pm EST where Kim from Episencial will be talking with us about  what toxins are present in personal care products, why we should avoid them, and what to look for on product labels.

Fabulous Friday

Well my first week back to work is over!! Yay!! I always hate the week back after vacation, my desk is overflowing and I just don't know where to begin. But, I made it through and my desk appears to be a little neater. Now, I'm ready for the weekend to begin for some down time and family time. I also started a 30 day online boot camp, and I'm really psyched for it. I suffer from severe case of exercise ADHD and I needed something new.

Mamavation Monday

Hey awesome readers! I am back from vacay!! Unfortunately, I had a horrible cold all week so I did not get any runs in on the beach, but I did walk a bunch and ride bikes around town. Well here's my plan for the week, and I better get my butt moving because I have a 15K planned in September.

Tuesday - Brazil Butt Lift, run
Wednesday - Brazil Butt Lift
Thursday - Brazil Butt Lift, run
Friday -  Brazil Butt Lift
Sat/Sun - long run

Tonight's Mamavation TV is about changing your cleaners to natural, healthier ones.... I cannot wait to watch, interested in joining us?

Fabulous Friday

It's been a great week, I'm starting to get back on track with my workouts, and even got a couple runs in!! We've been busy getting ready for our week at the beach. I cannot wait!!! The beach is my sanctuary, I always come back so relaxed afterwards. I plan on quite a few beach runs, too.... they are tough, but so amazing!!!

Review of the book A Day to Remember

I had the complete pleasure to review a book written by one of my awesome friends, Lydia Richmond. It's called A Day to Remember and it chronicles a few days in the lives of a group of five preteen friends, Annie, Katie, Tara, Angela and Beth. It starts out with the typical activities of normal best friends, but ends up with a heartfelt story of a decision that they will remember forever.

As I read this book, I really enjoyed going back in time to when I was about their age and the enjoyment I had with my best friends as we spent our long summer days together. My two boys did also read the story for review, and while they thought it was a great story, it was a little too girlie for them....... so I suggest this book for your girl readers. P.S..... They wouldn't allow me to take a picture of them reading, they were afraid it would hurt their image. :)

Not only was the book awesome, the illustrations were great. You can check out the illustrator, Richard Armada, here. This is Lydia's first book of many, as I hear through the grapevine that she already has a second adventure planned for this group of friends. She has been blogging for a while over at Cluttered Genius, and tweets as @lydsrich. Make sure when you're over at her blog you check out her daughter Miss Sassy Pants's weekly post, it's really cute!!

Ready to purchase this awesome book, you can find it on Amazon or Booklocker. Also, come help her celebrate her first book at her twitter party she's hosting on August 7th at 9 pm EST; she'll be using the hashtag  #BFFsRemember.
